A few questions for the wise
well im about to get a new Audiobahn A8002T amp to power 2 of my 12" Visoniks that i think are SVC 4 ohms each. My question is instead of doing each to its own channel on the amp can i bridge the amp and then split the wiring to each sub will this give me more power since it has 800 watts rms bridges and 200 watts rms at 4 ohms x 2?
also im about to build a custom box for the rear well in my firebird will this make the subs sound better being in a bigger box than what they came with or could it possibly be bad?
My last question is when i build this box i want to cover it with some sort of material that matches the stock carpet. Will the material mess with the output from my subs?
thanks

Question 1 - Make sure the amp is 2 ohm stable and it will be no problem.
Question 2 - Yes they will sound better in a sealed box, but get the spec sheet for the subs and build the volume of the box according to the proper specs. And seperate the 2 subs (build a box for each sub that shares a wall)
Question 3 - All speaker carpet is "acousticly transparent" which means sound goes through it or no one would use it. But you could cover the sub box in anything and it won't matter unless you cover the subs

ok well i got 1 more question i just found. Plans changed so now im building a custom box still but now im putting in 2 AW12OT Audiobahn subs and im adding a A8000T Audiobahn mono amp to power them. Ok so in my 89 firebird will my alt and battery be able to keep up or should i get a cap and if i should then is 1.5 farads enough?
o yea where can i buy carpeting for my box and is it expensive?

This just sounds stupid to me. Let's break it down. "Ok so in my 89 firebird will my alt and battery be able to keep up". This seems perfectly logical. Your alt will determine your system voltage with the car running and your battery will determine how long your system will be able to play with the car off. Moving on. "or should i get a cap and if i should then is 1.5 farads enough?"
If your battery and alternator can't keep up then upgrade them. Start by upgrading your under hood wiring commonly referred to as the big 3. If that doesn't fix the problem then get a bigger (higher output) alternator. They're really not that expensive. Caps = cheap fixes for dimming lights.

Sorry if I came across a bit harsh but common sense leads toward a pretty obvious solution. You even said it in your sentence. Honestly, I don't think you will have a problem with that amp in your car. Just upgrade your underhood wiring and you should be fine assuming your charging system is in good shape.

you did sound kinda harsh and i have read those threads but i really dont want to upgrade the stock wiring for now. I was just wondering with that amp if id have a problem with dimming lights or what not. but thanks for the help
sorry ok i have one last question sorry my options keep changing as i hear things. I got all my supplies for the box so thats all set. My question is if i get one kicker solo braric L5 12" can i put it towards the drivers side or should it be centered would it make a difference on being off center? BTW i hear good things about those kickers with an 800 watt amp powering it what kind of music do you guys think this 1 kciker will be good for? thanks a lot again

My last post was made @ 2:30 in the morning so I was a wee bit cranky. pardon me
I don't see the sense in adding a cap when you can do the under hood wiring in about 15 minutes for a fraction of the cost. Alternator to battery positive is easy, battery to chassis is really easy, and battery to engine can be pretty easy as well if you put the wire in a non-stock location. I wedged mine between the alternator bracket and the block for the shortest run possible. Anyway, 800 watts shouldn't be a problem for the stock charging system.
Location shouldn’t matter a lot. Sound waves @ 80 Hz are around 20 feet long so you won’t be able to hear the difference. It would matter what way the sub is aimed (toward the front of the car, back of the car, down, or up) in a car with a trunk but you can’t aim any of those directions in a thirdgen very well so this doesn’t really apply to us.
As for the L5 and what it’s good for musically, I would say rap and drum and bass type techno. It doesn’t have a reputation as a very musical driver but it can defiantly get loud. They’re also supposed to be somewhat finicky with their break in but I wouldn’t know for sure on either of these because I’ve never heard/used/owned one.
