DEH-P4500MP
Was in a used car trade in...an old rag GMC JIMMY. I just had to make sure there was a working radio in the hole before the vehicle went to auction.
Anyone have any experience with this model?
I downloaded the PDF from PIONEER's website....
What year would it be??
Any help is always appreciated.

JIM85IROC??
GUMMIE??

A 4500 would be three years ago's model, so 2003. These are decent headunits, I am hoping to get a 760 in the future as I think Pioneer make good bang- for- your- buck head units.

One of my friends had one in his truck back in high school. A decent deck but I don't have any personal experience with it. NEEDAZ is the local HU wizard.

From looking at the manual I can say that the 3 band EQ is more flexible than the graphic on the face plate suggests (you can change slope and frequency of each of the points). Playing mp3's = good. I'm not a big fan of the RCA setup though. Only 2 sets (not that big of a deal) at 2 volts (eh). I also don’t like the fact that they didn’t mention any kind of crossover for the two RCA sets. I'm sure NEEDAZ will have more input than I.

The owners manual should tell you anything you need to know. Pioneer DEH-P4500mp has the Ip Bus, plays MP3s. Not the best display. Pioneers are great bang for the buck. It's the middle of the road model for that year. If you down loaded the owners manual I'm not certain what you're looking for.

Just some input... not any hookup issues or anything like that. I believe you have answered all my questions. Middle of the road... decent quality...etc...

As an aside... would you use the 50 x 4 to power the interior speakers, or use a separate amp? My system is not huge or ultra powerful, but it has great SQ, and it hits great inside the car.

I wouldn't use that HU, or any HU, to power anything. 22x4 @ 5% THD isn't very impressive. Don't believe the 35-70 watts per channel that most companies advertise. Check the manual. Of course, this is me. If it sounds good to you there’s no reason not to do it. Try listening to the two back to back if you can. That will probably sell you on an amp.

SQ wise: are you running the stock speaker locations? If so, try listening to some nice component sets. You will probably be blown away. I liked the way my 4x6s and 6x9s sounded at low to moderate volume levels but they got way too bright/harsh at higher volume levels.

If you're looking for SQ, get an amp...

Sorry, I guess I should have given a better description, I have the subs powered w/a decent 300w amp...Two 10's/custom well box... Kenwood 6x9's in the rear sails...decent aftermarket 4x6's w/directional tweeters in stock dash locale...
The components do interest me for better reproduction, but as of yet I am unwilling to give up foot room, or sink more cash into the system for the car that I get to drive... MAYBE... a month or so out of the year.
