Will these stereos fit in our cars??

Hey everyone i own a 1983 camaro z28 and i currently have an aftermarket sony cd player in there..

basically im looking to give it a radio with more of a stock look.. the only problem is the stock radios for thirdgens arent cdplayers.. i REALLY love the corvette cdplayers (c4, c5) and i was wondering if they would fit in our cars?? its got a better stock look to it and they sound great..

here is a link to a stereo which is PERFECT for what i want. my question is will this stereo fit in our cars?? also i know that these stereos are funny sometimes and wont work unless its hooked up to the correct car for security reasons or whatever..

eBay Motors: C5 CORVETTE BOSE CD PLAYER STEREO RADIO HEAD UNIT 97-04 (item 8068189680 end time May-28-06 17:45:00 PDT)

if that stereo wont fit can anyone recommend one that will??

If that stereo has the vats on it I don't think you can get it to work. There are infact factory CD players that were installed on some third gens. Try a want it now listing or I have seen them on e-bay from time to time.

GM Din 1.5 stereo

Most older (before about 2002) GM and Mopar cars use a DIN 1.5 size head units. Ford, Honda, and most other imports use a DIN 1, which is also what most aftermarket units are. Pioneer makes a nice Din 1.5 which I have in my 92 RS (it cost me about $200 on cardomain.com).

The one in the picture looks just like the factory unit in my 2000 S-10, which sounds great. The listing seems a bit pricey, since I didn't pay that much new for my Pioneer. You might also be able to get one from a 4th gen Camaro.

If it is Din 1.5, it should fit. Try searching on ebay for Din 1.5

I noticed you have a 5-speed and 3.23. I just bought a set of 3.23 Posi gears on ebay for my 5-speed. Any sugestions on installing it?

VATS is a vehicle anti theft system, you need the right ignition key in order to start the vehicle and make the radio work. I read on that Bose unit you are ready to purchase that it "WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU ARE EQUIPPED WITH THE BOSE SYSTEM!" Please read into the fine print before you make a purchase and regret it later.

VATS = Vehicle Anti-Theft System
If the ignition Key has a chip then it's a VATS.

I have a Monsoon system out of 2000 T/A which fits perfect, and has that factory look. I also have a GM/Delco 6-Disc cd changer hooked up to it. I just have aftermarket pioneer 6x9's, and 4x6's, and this system sounds sweet for an old school hair band guy like myself. They make a harness that I purchased off of ebay that is a 12 pin to 21 pin harness that makes it plug & play. Great setup IMO if you want that factory look with a better sound.
