Stock radio identification and amp locations?
OK, I have an 89' RS without all the hooplaa, just electric locks. I have the stock radio in it for now but would like to keep it stock but just put in the bose system with the amp. How do I tell if a vehicle came with the bose or not? Is it on the radio or can I look on the options sticker either in glove box or where ever it may be on other vehicles. What else would I need I see there is a amp relay in the schematics....so , radio , amp , relay and wiring harness? Oh, and where is the amp located at on the 89 rs's? It tells me behind the front right hand I/P, what is the I/P? Insturment panel? Thanks for any ifno.
For the record , I have an in at the local salvage yard so getting all the parts and peices not to hard to get as long as I get order in before anyone else see's it.

If I'm not mistaken all of the bose cars had speakers in the kickpanels. Also, you wont be able to use your stock radio with the bose system as far as i know. Which is the same reason you need a bose interface box when you get an aftermarket CD headunit.
Something about the different frequencys or something...i forget offhand. sorry.

in the Bose system there is one small amp mounted next to each speaker. the two front speakers are in the kick panels, and the two rear speakers are mounted in the trunk lid. if you want to convert a non Bose car to Bose, you should get a wire schematic for the Bose system. it uses a wierd grounding system, and requires a power and ground wire to each of the 4 amps.
