hi, im having some trouble getting my aftermarket cd player in my 84 trans am. i bought it with no radio at all, just a bunch of cut wires- so i bought an adaptor kit at walmart to connect the wires to like i did with my 92 cavalier (which worked fine) over 3 years ago. now i cant remember exactally what im doing the plug wont fit into the cd player and im stumped. is there some thing im forgeting ?

that wiring from your old cavalier looks like it was hardwired in, cut it out if its not part of another adaptor and install it in your bird, and just wire it straight in. and forget that adaptor you bought. or go to a yard and cut a new harnas out and install that on your existing cut wires.

 

think simple. if all your factory wires are cut, I wouldnt bother with them. siomply run new wire. you need constant power, switched power, ground, and speakers. those adapter kits are for if you still have your factory plug in the car, which it sounds like you dont. I would consider getting a couple of those fuses with an extra wire hanging off then (If you want to take the cheezey way out... ) adn put those in your fuse box in place of the normal ones. you need one that is constant power, ad you need one that turns off with the ignition. then run a GOOD ground, adn you are set but for the speaker wires.
