Radio for '89 TA

Looking to replace the factory radio in my TA. I saw one advertised by Classic Industries (Pioneer SUpertuner III) but was for 82-85 (I think).

I'm not all that familiar with the radio lingo. I have no idea what the DIN size means. Can I buy a radio with CD that will be a direct replacement for the stock radio in my TA or will I have to have a faceplate?

go down to walmart or look through ebay or what ever.... pick you out a cd player you like. anything you pick will blow away the factory tape deck. the internal amps in most of these cd players are pretty good. just the new cd player will make the speakers sound twice as good. but get the cd player and then you need to look in walmart over in the caraudio stuff and get an installation kit that will work with your car the list of applications is usually on the back. and then get a wiring harness from walmart to its the same deal as the install kit it is vehicle specific and the applications are on the back it might say you need the antenna thingymabob but it will explain what you need just go and look around untill you find the stuff for your car.

The 89 TA is a 1 1/2 DIN deck. 90% of the decks I have seen a 1 DIN. The best decks (Eclipse, Alpine, and a couple others I cant think of) are 1 DIN, with an ocasional 2 DIN.

I dont know if a 1.5 DIN CD player will even fit. If you buy a 1 DIN CD player, you will not only need a face plate, you will also needs a 1.5 - 2 inch exsension because the lack of depth on the TAs. You can get a flush fit on a 1 DIN, but will need to take it to a custom shop if your not into modding the install yourself. Keep in mind most custom shops dont like to install decks they did not sell you and I wouldnt trust my car to a Best Buy installer.
