Car died, Jumped it...Now stereo wont turn ON.
I was replacing a couple of bulbs in my dash 2 days ago and i had all the lights on a little too long... so my battery died. Now I have a 1500w (3 500w amps) system, 500 going to the front, 500 to the rear, and 500 to an 8" tube sub. The system is all linked together and gets its power directly from the battery. I disconnected this direct line from the battery, at the battery, before i jumped the car. After the car started, I reconnected the audio cable to the battery(while the car was running). Then I got into my car and the stereo doesnt work.... I can hear the speakers kinda pop when i turn the car on, and the headunit still eats and spits out cds just fine. But the lights on the faceplate wont come on. Ive checked all the fuses having to do with the radio and amps and what not, but they are all fine. What could the problem be?

Try hooking the speakers directly to the head unit, if they still wont play then the head unit is dead. If they do play then the Amps are not getting power or they are dead.

Depending on who made the head unit they sometimes have manual reset circuit breakers on the back or a reset button under the faceplate if it's removeable.Same thing for the amps a lot of them have manual reset circuit breakers.have you check for these?

Yea... I pressed the reset button behind my face plate. That worked. I feel dumb for not checking that before. Thanks for your help.
