Grounding help!

Ok, so I am just about to finish installing my pre-system, though I haven't began w/ the power cables yet. My MAIN concern is grounding the power atm, because I REALLY don't want to ruin everything if I mess up. I've found a spot that looks pretty convenient, yet I'm not sure if it will work correctly.

I was thinking right here (it's below right-hand door panel), and was thinking of screwing it down there, but wasn't sure if that will make a circuit back to the battery and be ok. This is also all done in a '00 Ford f150. Don't mind all the water and whatnot, I was looking for an appropriate place in the rain, so it got a bit messy there, and if need be, I can screw it down further back. My concern is, will any real damage occur if you test it out and it's not properly grounded?

I've also heard that you can screw them below the bolts holding the seatbelts down on a few, and was wondering if this is one of those cases that will work out perfectly:

And finally, just as a quick extra question. I am SoL it seems when trying to run the power cable to my battery (on the right-hand side of the truck), and think I'm just going to have to drill a hole and feed it down along the door panel up to the amp in the back.

This is where I had in mind, and was wondering if anyone here has ever driven an f150 before and would know if this is a good spot or not?

thanks for all the help!

PS, I know this doesn't have much to do w/ F-bodies :x .. but I'm getting my t/a back in a month or so so I'll be moving another system to there, so all the help goes to a good cause

Do you have A Digital Multimeter (DMM)? They are a real handy tool to have when doing electrical work. About 35 bucks or less at various places. Anyway you can run a long jumper wire from the positive of the battery or from the cigarette lighter and just check DC voltage. take the red lead of the DMM or a testlight (even cheaper!) and connect to the 12v positive and the black lead of the DMM or testlight and touch the spot you are going to use for the grounding point. If you get a reading of 12v or the testlight turns on you are golden!!

Hey cub and Matt. Got my stereo done in my Iroc.2-12 in. subs in a Camaro custom box, 1800 watt amp, Infinity speakers in front and center on a Linear amp, Pioneer HU. I hooked up fronts to amp and then changed to center speakers as you suggested. Put fronts to HU. Does sound better IMAO. Thanks for your help. Badman

Camaroshifter, This is a third gen board, but this may stay up because grounding is a good general topic. Any way, I can't get the pics to come up. Just ground to a good metal part of the chassis. I like to drill a separate hole, sand down to good clean metal, and nut and bolt it with good star lock washers. Just using a DMM wouldn't tell you much. It wouldn't pull enough current to see the voltage drop and it would read low enough resistance to see potential problems.
