Original GM radio-speaker problem

Hello to all, I have my 1991 Formula stock, never touched anything in interior including original am/fm cassette player. Now when I turn on radio, only left side speakers work, if I turn **** to right I can barely hear audio and sometimes it makes a static sound from right side. Anyone ever have this problem, is it wires, still original GM as I never took radio out to look, Thanks! Andy

I highly doubt it is either the wires or the speakers, the radio is 16 years old and probably worn. Try moving the speakers from the left to the right to verify the speakers and the wiring are good and if they are, pop another radio in there.

I have an old 2 way gm speaker that just decided one day to give up the cone. Only the tweeter works now with an occasional pop from the cone. I'd bench more on bad speaker/wiring than the radio.
