Re: couple questions

Well i would recommend 4 gauge wire setup. that will handle just fine for what your doing. Yes kicker and other companys make complete wiring kits for car systems. I would recommend to go with 2 amps. 1 amp dedicated to push your sub (and powerful enough to add an additional sub in the future), and a cheaper 4 channel amp to power your mids, uppper, and tweeters (they dont need a lot of power, 250w or 500w amp max). You will probably need 2 distribution blocks as well. That will let you power both the amps with 1 wire. If you have a local car stereo shop, i would highly recommend you tell them what your looking for, as they can help you alot for what you need. (exspecially wiring diagrams and instructions) Just remember, alot of those places will try to sell you top $$$ stuff that you can usually buy online for MUCH less. So shop smart. I dont know how much you have to spend, but i would buy a high quality mono channel amp for your sub, thats powerfull enough to push another sub when your ready to upgrade. And probably go with something as simple as a crunch amp or sony xplode amp to push the mids/highs/tweeters.

he said 5 channel amp for the set of jbls' i heard em really nice! found em for 100$ cheaper shipped for each pair online already,

just dont know what type of amp to get, dont even know if i will ever put subs in or not, i use my trunk lol

Re: couple questions

i always use two amps schoche makes a dual amp wire kit so you can run one power wire to two amps so you can mount one amp and power it and if you ever decide to run subs you can wire up the other amp and not have to buy more wire just keep your speaker wire away from power wires and youll be fine as for amps go if your not worried about being able to fade left to right just use a two channel amp for your full range speakers i think it works just fine

Re: couple questions

5 channel amps are a pain in the *** because when you want to upgrade, you wind up with a semi-useless amp. Since the 5th channel is never powerful enough, you will definately want to upgrade.

Buy a good 50x4 4 channel amp. When you do decide to upgrade to subs, this amp will prove to be very versital. When you initially upgrade, you can take the 2 channels that initially power your 6x9s and use them to power your sub instead. During that time you can use your head unit to power the 6x9s, since they will require very little power once you send your bass to the sub. This will work out well unless you decide that you want it even louder. If you do, then you can buy as powerful of a sub amp as you want, and then just put the 4 channel amp back onto your 4x6s and 6x9s, or double the power to the 4x6s and keep running the 6x9s off your head unit.

Re: couple questions

i just realized, good thing i did not order the "6x9" speakers, they are not really 6x9, was setting up to order some of the stuff today, as far as 2 way and 3 way speakers go which is better? whats the difference from a 2 way and a 3 way?, im looking at a pair of jbl 6x9's that are 3way speakers, and noticed that the 4x6's im getting are only 2 way

Re: couple questions

Any amp will be too powerful for 4x6s if you don't filter the bass out of them. You can blow up a 4x6 with a head unit if you run it full range.

Likewise, any amp is safe if you just don't over drive the speaker! When things start to get fugly sounding, turn it down. A 50 watt amp is fine for the 4x6s as long as you filter it properly. A 100hz or 120hz high pass is what I would recommend.
