how much fiberglass do I need
was checking out some of the awesome boxes some of you guys made and I had a question on average how much fiberglass cloth was needed to do the boxes. also where do you get 0.75 ounce mat I guess that is the general concensus of what was used on the first layer. also the 40 oz are the weights per cubic yard? lots of questions also what is v3? I noticed it was mentioned in Gummie's buildup thread I can't find who makes it. I am assuming it is a sealer. here is the thread I am talking about if anyone else wants to check it out.

If you have never done fiberglass work before then you should get these videos. And Custom enclosure projects are not just a couple day projects for the most part. Good luck.

Re: how much fiberglass do I need
I work weekends (12 hrs fri and sat at time and a half) so I have 5 days to work on it a week. seems pretty straight forward doing it but I don't want to mess it up and be out $300 or so.

After your first week on your project let us know where you are at.
What size of speakers are you making the enclosure for? Are you going to paint it?, carpet?, vinyl wrap?

Re: how much fiberglass do I need
planning on doing two 12"s nothing special and since it is going in a vert you won't be able to see it so nothing real fancy design wise. I am just going to call up ACC and get matching carpet for it. I am more than likely using Alpine Type X subs. If I actually get started I will do a pictorial on it and list all of the material and how much mat and cloth I end up using. honestly that will more than likely be the hold up because I really don't know how much to get right now and I may try a set of kick panels if I can get the angle right in a decent amount of time.

That sounds good. I do stand by those video's that I suggested and posted their website. Very cheap expert info. Highly recommend. Have fun.

You'll need a stupid amount of cloth and resin.
For a well sub box, i've used 13 or so yards of cloth, with some mat in there as well, and I might be half as thick as I want (1/4"). I'm not done, had to take a break for winter while I was in school. 3 gallons of resin too. I'm going a little too thick on the resin though. This is .75oz cloth I think, that's the norm. The thicker stuff is not as common, but if you can get it, it'd save you doing as many layers.
Mat is available everywhere, walmart, autoparts stores etc. It's the easy stuff. The cloth is where you can get different weights etc.
And yea, cover it in carpet, it'll hide all your screwups a lot nicer

good deal I will probably get 10 yards of the .75 oz stuff and get 10 yards of 40 oz cloth. probably kitty hair too at least 1 gallon and get about 3 gallons of polyester resin. this sound like it might be enough? 1/2" sounds plenty thick enough. also some mdf to brace for the subs. They are pretty heavy.
