I need sound system support
I plan on doing a mild sound system in the near future...im much more interested in sound quality than bump. I plan on making a custom leather wrapped box to sit behind the front seats in the rear seats spot (doing a rear seat delete type thing). I cant decide whether to go with a single 10" Alpine amp or two 10" Alpines and a amplifier like the following
what would some of you guys recommend for my needs?
relatively low cost
sound quality with that extra touch of bass quality
subs that have a relatively low profile for easy installation
i mainly listen to rock, punk, etc...maybe on rare occasions a little rap

Re: I need sound system support
I would grab something like the RF P6001bd amp and a Elemental Designs 11Kv.2 in 1) Dual 4 config to give you a 2 Ohm load, and tune down the amp to give the sub 400-500W, or 2) Dual 2 VC to feed it 300W. I will bet that 300W will be more than enough, especially with a properly designed setup, but you can go with option 1 so you have the extra power.
eD produces excellent subs (and killer amps, but they might be a little $$), and the 11kV.2 is very reasonably priced. I don't think you would need more than one, especially since you are looking for SQ and not head-pounding loudness (which I'm sure the 11kV.2 will do). I would probably try to fit the whole setup in the hatch, as the 11kV.2 needs 0.5 cubic feet ideally, in a sealed box.

Re: I need sound system support
thx for the reply that looks like a pretty sweet setup...the box in the back will be sealed and trust me i will go all out to make sure the box is perfect for the sound and look nice at the same time. I kind of wanted there to be a 10 behind each seat so you can really feel it but im sure one would still do the trick nicely.
ill keep considering and researching and plz keep the comments/advice coming

Re: I need sound system support
JL subs have to be some of the best sound quality subs i haveever heared , a single 10 will do wonders for you , then all you need to do is find an amp to power it , make sure its a class d sub and day 600.1 like the Rf amp or w/e rms you think you will need to run a single 10
i use 2 10 type R's there SQL subs
i would also recomend a single Type-x in a sealed box , type X's are SQ all the way

Re: I need sound system support
thx again guys it really just depends on how i end up doing my car...Id like to have it like this...if i can draw it well enough...it didnt work bc its in the wrong format
basically i want to have a bottle btw but just behind the seats on top of this box and want he setup to look good and be symmetric that is why i was thinking of doing two 10s one behind each seat on each side of the box and then over the tranny tunnel in the middle mount the amp.
kinda like firebirdjosh's setup but done differently.

Re: I need sound system support
I'm eventually going to the Elemental Design subs but going to go with an old school amp with them like a Phoenix Gold MS275 at the least or an MS2125 for the most. I have a buddy at work who bought 4 of the 7" subs from them, running 1ohm and it hits like a truck with the JL 500.1 monoblock on the subs and a Phoenix gold MS275 on the rest of the speakers so he has both bump and clarity. I currently have a Phoenix Gold M44 running my 6x9 and 2 10" Pioneer subs at 1ohm bridged, but the amp gets warm (not scorching hot) when I turn the volume up until I get the cash for the other amp, then I'm moving the M44 to the front and rear speakers in the car.
