Speaker wire
I'm wiring my speakers, is there any reason not to use the speaker wire that I use in my home? It's got clear sheathing and is fairly thick.

Re: Speaker wire
Yeah, thats exactly what it is. It's the same stuff I've used for any home speaker installation and I figured it would be fine. The guy at Fry's told me that home speaker wire and car speaker wire is "Totally different, it will sound like crap if you use that stuff, you need this." I don't know what he had, but it was way overpriced. I told him to cram it.

Re: Speaker wire
Sometimes home speaker wire is too thin, like 24AWG. I think it runs a higher voltage to home speakers or something.
As long as its 18 or even better, 16AWG, you're fine.

Re: Speaker wire
i just grab lamp cord or the 14ga stuff they have at walmart. wire is wire, even if i like it a bit on the bigger side. there is no difference between home and car audio speaker cable requirements, as they are both doing the same job (people quite often use home drivers for cars and visa versa, although most car audio speakers are 4 ohm vs home's 8 ohm)
