Need SQ sub

See my signature for my current setup. The amplifier can run 410W RMS at 2 ohm, so I'd prefer to run a sub at 2 ohm.

However I'm trying to find another identical amp, so I can run two 10's or 12's.

What I need is something like the Ascendant Audio Assassin, cheap as hell, but excellent SQ and can still get loud, naturally not as loud as Type R's but for a small woofer yes.

The Infinity one is not bad, but I'd like to have even better SQ, more precise bass.

Re: Need SQ sub

if you had more wattage and wanted a bigger sub you could have bought my 15" rl-p... look at the soundsplinter rl-i subwoofer i beleive that has very good SQ

Re: Need SQ sub

It is hard to recommend a sub to somebody because everybody has different tastes. If I was to recommend a sub, I have never been disappointed by an Image Dynamics IDQ. Just my two cents.

Re: Need SQ sub

The install makes more difference than the brand of the sub. If you have an infinity, that should be good enough to win SQ comps if install it correctly. Have a look at your enclosure and you system tuning

Re: Need SQ sub

^^^^ very true but it never hurts to have an SQ woofer.. something like the IDmax or an RL-p or RL-i will be much better than an infinity

Re: Need SQ sub

Cheap and great do not always go hand-in-hand. I had to make a decision between the IDQ and eD and finally went with an eD 11Ov.2 (their K series might be a little more in your price range) due to it having a greater Xmax and a 5 year warranty (vs. 1 year for ID and most other companies). That right there tells me that eD is either crazy or they are very confidant in their products. If you want tight, precise SQ, you don't want to get anything bigger than a 12" sub. If space is a premium, you might want to look into eD's new SQ10; it seems there are many people who are more than happy with it's performance.

Re: Need SQ sub

Take a look at an Image Dynamics ID (the latest revision). Also, I can happily say that I have owned several IDQs and never smoked a coil and they were beaten hard. An IDQ will run off the power you have. A member on the board here has a single ID12 (not IDQ) in a sealed box in his 84 Z28 running off a US Amps USA100 (325w rms) and it is pretty ridiculous while still maintaining good SQ.

You may also want to look at an Eclipse Thruster, which I feel is an excellent sub for the money.
