I wonder how long it will be before your whole system will be stolen... If you can see it that clearly through the window... I would put limo tint on, or move your amp.

Nah dont get limo tint, that just makes it more of a target and its easier to break the glass of tinted window (especially that back one). Get on of those covers that covers the hatch area, check the junkyards a lot of our cars came with them. use a whole bunch of differnt screws (torx and security kind too). alarms cant hurt but theyll just disconnect the battery. remove face plate, dont bump where u park, and well just dont park in bad areas or out of view.

Limo tint makes it more of a target? I've never heard that before... but I can see how it's possible... You'll have to reiterate the whole easier-to-break thing, because I think you stepped into a different dimension for a second there.

If people can't see it, they most likely won't steal it, unless they know you have it. If that's the case, it's theirs for the taking. If you make it hard to steal, and they try, then they will just tear up your car... Seen it before.

Most random thieves won't bother stealing simply if they see a blinking red light on your dash. If they know you have a nice system, again, it's gone, regardless.

Oh, and I have always mounted my amp to the bottom of the well. Never once have any of them overheated. I've had the old-school red Sony amplifiers, Autoteks, and the best ever, eD... none of them came close to overheating...

too bad my Sony's were stolen... my car was getting the engine rebuilt, and someone jumped the fence at the repair shop... killed the guard dogs, and carried my dual 12 box and two amps over a 12 foot fence...

I say go tint, because you KNOW you aren't going to use the cargo cover for long... they rattle, and you will not put it back up when you park... even if you do, you may draw attention to the very thing you are trying to conceal... a lot of trouble...

Re: just a lil video

The most important thing is to NOT park in bad areas. Limo tint makes it a target cos not only is it a "hot car" most cars with tint are gonna be hiding something or probly have systems with the tint. The hatch is really easy to break with tint, just smash it with something and the whole thing rips right out, ask me how i know. I got my whole system stolen and they ruined the interior adn the paint doing it. I had a car alarm, they just disconnected the battery. and I had a blanket that was the same color as the interior covering my whole system, and I NEVER bumped it. I didnt even have a cd player up front. How they knew i had a system is beyond me, but they still broke in. I could show u some pics of it after it was broken in but id have to scan it n stuff. but heres a pic of my old system that was stolen:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/atta...p-img_0204.jpg

bottom line is u can only try n REDUCE your chances of getting broken in but if they want it, they are gonna get it. It sucks we live in that kind of world but thats how it goes.

Edit- I just read u live in texas, most cars here dont have tint unless they are 'tricked out' or whatever u know? you will probly be fine in texas with the tint cos i know most of you guys have tint on your cars but up north most people dont.

Re: just a lil video

I'm still having trouble following how tint makes it easier to break. If anything (very little,) it actually helps hold the window together better...

yeah it makes it hold together better so you can just rip it out real easy. Hatchback cars are the worse for having systems in. another trick they do is to throw broken spark plug porcelain at the windows, itll brake em pretty quiet

Id say when your T-Top is dancing up and down a couple inches with the door open, it means the subs are moving around enough .

Also dude, if you dont want to tint the car, id just pic up a rear shade. Dont know exactly what its called, but it rolls up and hides anything in your trunk. I keep my subs back there and it hides em great.
