Delco Radio Blues

Got the intermittent Delco radio blues. My 86 is a garage queen with 27K on the clock. Started it up this week, and the radio would pop, and crack, but the dial would not come on. The clock continued to read as if the radio were off. The light on the gain switch on the dash would light up, but no other activity noticed. Drove the car for a while, and the radio suddenly started to work. It dropped out a couple of times then stayed on, and worked normally. Any ideas?I know it's a loose connection somewhere, but I am wondering if it is in the radio, or the car. Since the gain switch lights up with the power switch on the radio, I am thinking that it is inside of the radio. It's the model with the AM/FM/Cassette, graphic equalizer. Thanks in advance.

Re: Delco Radio Blues

I had something very similar happen with the radio from my 88 IROC. Turned out it was the radio & not the car. I ended up having to have the unit repaired. Plays like a champ now. If i remember right the shop that i ended up sending the radio to for the repair was in the carolina's.
