hey everyone, i have a 1988 camaro, and the guy who had the car before me ripped out the speakers and in the process, the speaker wire too. where do you hook up the speaker wires in front of the car? i bought 2 new 6x9's and i am going to fish wire through to the other wires, but don't know what to hook up to. i know what color each wire is, i just need some assistance on how to connect speaker wire. thanks

 

If you can take the stereo out of the dash, you would see how they run to the b pillars. Either way you have to take the stereo out to get to the wires. You can run fresh wires if you wanted to and run them under the dash and carpet up to the pillars. Check for polarity of the speaker using a AA battery and see which side is positive and hook the solid wire up to the positive side. You will see a striped wire of the same color which would be your negative. While you are at it why not change out the stereo to an aftermarket one because the aftermarket speakers wont sound as good with the factory head unit. ake your time and refer to the12volt.com for additional stereo wiring options.
