Not too hard really. just cut rings for the speakers. liquid nails and staples to attach them to a peice of wood shaped like the kick panel. Cover in fleece, apply fiberglass resin and bondo, cover in vinyl. Presto instant kick panel.
There are actually some really good how to's on the boards here just search it up. They are all a little different. Some cover the whole panel some use a small piece of wood to attach.
I covered the whole flatish part of the panel but I wanted to keep the factory color and shape for the trim.
Hardest parts were getting a kick panel shaped piece of wood. I just cut up an old kick panel. Making it fit the contours of the kick panel since it't not flat. And covering in vinyl, a heat gun will be your best friend for this!

Hmm... I like them. They look good. How about an installed pic...or a pic from the side? Im curious as to how far they stick out.
Do you have any in progress pictures??? I want to go with front components, and I dont want to have to replace those 4x6s.... Just dont like oval speakers, and there isnt much room in the dash. But Im a big guy, with big feet, and my car is a 6spd... so I need the room down by my feet.
Those look like they are nicely sized.

Mad props man!It is easier and cheaper to do these little projects like these than to buy them for 3-4 times more than the cost of the materials to make ones you like. I might be making plates to put 5.25 speakers in the dash and 6.5 in the rear but thats a big Might. Stuff like that doesn't usually sell well and I usually make the price at the low end of reasonable to keep people buying them. I was going for a stock appearance and kick panels were out of the options so I built plates to put the components in the stock locations and thanks to ABS plastic sheets I was able to perfectly fit them.

I actually just got it installed today. I didn't do pics of the build for this one but I plan on it for the other side.
I will snap a few shots of it installed. Just a beforehand note, it sits in super shallow prolly 3-4 inches of space to the pedal. I have kinda small feet though so not sure :-p

I love them there... I read all over the board that well boxes sound better do to cabin gain. I've read that cabin gain in hatch cars, eclipse, probe, etc can gain as much as 6db.
My subs have never hit harder. I always felt that the kappa perfects were missing a good hard kick, i was wrong. The one thing I did notice was low end response 40-80hz was real lacking and the 80-120hz was kinda muddy. This was opposite of when I had it in the hatch. I just adjusted my bass boost and eq and it sounds just as good and hits better.

my 10's are in the back and they hit hard i have a complete sony exsplode sound sytsem 6/9 + 4/6 + 2 tens sounds great hits alote harder than my freinds kicker setup.and sounds better,o and 1000watt for tens and a 250 watt for the 6/9's

Hmmm.. Those kicks still look really good. But I think that would cramp my feet (size 13-14 shoe). I use that dead pedal space over on the left all the time. I wonder if it could have been made any tighter? Or are you in towards the body of the car as much as possible with those speakers?

the magnet is right against the kick. you might be able to get more space but it would require cutting the sheet metal behind the kick.
I could see how you could have problems with kicks. I'm only 5'8" and size 8 1/2 shoe. I never use the dead pedal just bend my leg and rest it on the door. not so easy for someone over 6' i bet though

check out the interior board. They have a sticky about wiring and what not for the swap. Do a quick search and that board and you will see all kinds of swaps.
Hardest part IMO is the dash pad. Still haven't finished mine but I've come up with an idea to make a new one as the stock one needs to be cut and is super flimsy. Mine cracked in half after about a week of driving hence having to make a new one.

Thats Pretty cool man... Ikeeping mine Original.. But that would make a great future project.. I like to do complicated things.. It keeps my mind from becomming oatmeal, Like some of my friends

WTF...a speaker grill would prevent you from kicking though the cone on your Infinity speakers.

Yeah, pretty much the same way as the kickpanel in this thread. You can make heaps of stuff that way.
