Engine: 76 chevy 350 carb
Transmission: t-5 3.23
disc skippin

on my transam i have an aftermarket audio system set up by the previous owners. well everytime i go over a bump in the road my disk skips like half the song and i was wonderin if mabe the system was hooked up wrong or if its just that im drivn on to rough of roads

its neither.. Your cd player does not have the anti skip feature. Some older cd players did not come with them built in so when you hit a bump it will skip like your does. My old alpine did the same thing, until i got sick of it and bought a new one. Thats about the only way to fix the problem.

well the system actualy isnt the original. the one i have now is a digital one by alpine. besides that i dont knwo much about it since i didnt own the car when it was installed

yeah as i said some older aftermarket cd players did not come with the anit ship feature built in. Alpine has always had problems with thier cd players skipping. I finally went to JVC but i would reccomend Kendwood or JVC. Or any good cd player that you may be able to afford. You could also try cleaning it with a cleaning cd, the lens may just be dirty.

Get a Pioneer, they don't skip.

my pioneer hasnt skipped once, but your cd player may be skipping due to improper mounting.

Id take it out and put it back in.

well all of this is good advice. first ill try to clean it or pull it out to remount it. if that doesnt work ill just replace the system.
