Sound guru's please come in!!
hello everyone.
Im trying to get a good system going and I want to do it right and do it once.
Here is a list of what I Have :
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...x?i=500CDA9883 head unit
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...x?i=500RUE4202 wireless remote
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...px?i=142C4GM01 GM Factory System Integration Adapter
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...x?i=120923008P Chevrolet In-dash Receiver Kit
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...x?i=500KCE422I Alpine KCE-422i iPod cable
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...x?i=130TSS2541 Pioneer TS-SW2541D
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rvrBEZb...px?i=130SBOX10 Pioneer UD-SW10B
JC POWER amp wires with
-17' gauge clear translucent braided power wire
-3' 4 gauge black translucent braided ground wire
-17' 18 gauge remote turn-on lead
-40' 16 gauge speaker wire
-Dual Twist 5M RCA Cable
-Installation accesories
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/misc...-amp-wire.html
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13488 Audiobahn A4004T amp
new powe antena ( stock just rebuilt) and chillin in my room
with Front and rear Infinity refeance speakers.
and that is what I HAVE
Now my question is do I need another amp ? If so should I run a 1 channle mono amp for the sub? OR guy sell my amp and get a 5 channle amp
I want to to this right the first time and not have to redo it later on. I also want to do the install clean as possible so less wires the better so I am kind of leaning to the 5chl amp.( thats if I actualy need one)
I am planning to cut a piece of wood to fit inthe spare tire well, cover it with some fabric( to mach my carpet) and mount the amp onto it.
So please let me know what I should do. I would like to get this done soon.
thanks

Re: Sound guru's please come in!!
IMO you should shop around more and find a better deal on some of that stuff crutchfield is kinda expensive. also youd be better off looking up the air displacement specs on that speaker and build your own PORTED box. but thats just MO

The audiobahn 4 channel will do fine for you right now I think. I'd run a separate 1 channel or bridged 2 channel for the sub, it doesn't need that much power anyway. A 5 channel would be better for size, wiring simplicity, and about the right power output, but it won't let you expand as much in the future. Your tastes will most likely change and you'll upgrade you stereo before long.

For more components, I shop at Sonic Electronix but as far a subwoofer box, the type to go with will vary on you. I have a sealed box for maximum accuracy but each one has its advantages. Ported boxes are most efficient because they use the low bass from the front and back of the cone. It really depends on what you listen to that weighs heavy on box type. And another tip, the more ohms the clearer, so try and match up ohms, watts, and sometimes appearance.

Re: Sound guru's please come in!!
thanks for the tips......I listen metallica, distured some tecno but mainly rock, no contry, no blues not much rap,
but back to my questoin is should I run a mono amp with the amp i have now or should I go with a 5/6 channle amp. I want to run least amount wires as possible and have it clean. so im kinda leaning toward the 5/6 chanle amp.
But im looking for advise on what to uses WITH THE SYSTEM I HAVE NOW (the list i posted up is what I own)

If you want to use what you have right now, I would try the amp in three way mode, and use two channels for your front and rear speakers, using bass blockers (capacitors) for the front speakers, and use the remaining channel to power your sub.
Look in your amp's manual on page number 20, the second diagram.
If you don't have the manual go here:
http://www.audiobahn.com/Audiobahn06...r_manuals.html and download the intake series amplifiers manual for your amp.
Good luck

Re: Sound guru's please come in!!
so heres my thoughts:
Don't go with the 5/6 ch. amp they're only good for space saving and mild users, run a 4 ch and yes on a mono for your subs. run 4 gauge up to a distribution block and split it to 8 gauge for youe amps, that should keep them happy(IF you have 8 gauge power on the amp use a 8 gauge for your ground dont substitute!!)).keep your 3 (front/rear/sub)sets of rcas seperate from your power wire, and your power wire MUST be fused at the battery!!(very important) you dont want to burn your car to the ground. the best box you can run is in your rear slot facing up, use all the space their. Sealed is probably best for you, it will give you a more accurate bass note, best for music that you listen too. just remember ported enclosures need less power and sealed needs more(watts) If you have 4v rcas on your deck match your amps gain to this or damage may occur. if you want it look clean and proffessional then i suggest going to have it installed proffessionally. if your confident in your work, than run all your wires keep them neat and organized and have a compitent audio place build you a nice amp rack. trust me on this, do what you can and have them tell you what your lacking, or over killing. Dont go to a place like future shop, try a smaller out fit and you'll be happier. Keep in mind if its cheap then its probably not going to make you happy for long, go with brands you recognize and have been on the market for a long time, dont rush it or you WILL do it more than once, also dont make things to complicated, a stereo never lasts for ever, so you will have to service something and you want it accesable. thanx for readind and good luck.
