2 amp installed. 4channel only playing 2 speakers

I have just installed my amp this afternoon and trying to figure out wtf going on with my new 4 channel amp. I have wired it all up and I know they all work because I have ****ed around with the RCA cables and can only seem to get 2 out of 4 speakers to play music. either all left or all right or all front or all back or like front left and back right. Very odd.. I have my Mono amp set on Full Range. I have the 4 Channel amp set on 4 CH.

I am using cheap splitters that I have left over. Didn't have time to buy a fancy 4 channel RCA cable... I still don't think it should of mattered :\

My amps are JL 1000/1 and 300/4

I am going to buy 4 Channel RCA cables tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and can give me the thumbs up on buying the RCAs and maybe its just a stupid settings on my Amps. (I don't really understand most of the **** on my amps I just copied the JL tutorial sites pics)
The tutorial I used is this one. Not sure if the setting are correct please if they arent give me a few pointers plz [I set it to 4ch not 2ch like it has in the diagram because I have wired it up for 4ch of course]

I connected the RCAs also to my Amp preouts not the Headunits. Did not have long enough RCAs and didn't think I needed to do that.

DONT HATE ME FOR JLs GAY NAME FOR THE TUTORIAL!!!!

Sounds like you have alot of stuff wrong, first off I'm assuming you're running your RCA's from the deck to the mono amp, then using the output from the mono amp to run the 4 channel amp? That's will work but you'll lose your ability to adjust the fader from the head unit. Now your problem is very simple, take out the splitters; you don't need those, now set the amp to 2 channel (this has nothing to do with the output, only the input) and hook up the front 2 channel inputs. Now set the gains on the amp to get the front and rear speakers leveled out and you're good to go. When you do this you'll no longer have fader controls from the deck so ignore those.

Yes i got my mono hooked up to my Headunit. Do I need a 4 channel RCA wires hook them up to BOTH preouts [front and rear] of the amp or just need to hook it up to the one preout? (I'm pretty sure I tried just with two and it only gave me front working only)

The Tutorial I used was the wrong one I messed up the link. fixed that

Re: 2 amp installed. 4channel only playing 2 speakers

You could also do it this way depending on how you prefer to "adjust" your setup with front and rear fade.If your headunit only has front and rear preout and doesnt have subwoofer preout then use 4channel rca and wire plug them into your 4channel amp normally. If the 4channel amp has its on subwoofer preout then use it and connect a short rca from there to your mono amp and then level match your system. If the 4channel amp does not have a seperate preamp for subwoofer then you have 2 options depending on what you prefer and that is to use a splitter on the rear set of rca's and connect it to both the mono amp's input and the 4channel amp's rear input. This will alow you to still have front and rear fader and if you fade all the way to the front then your subwoofer also decreases. Some ppl like it this way and some like it reverse ..meaning split the front rca's instead of the rear. This way when you fade to the rear the sub will decrease in volume.Ideally at our shop we recommend to upgrade a level higher in deck since the cost isnt much these days.I know some older 2 preout decks have a feature that will allow you to choose the rear outputs to be used as subwoofer preout ie alpine and pioneer, this helps aswell if you want to run all 4 speakers as the "front" on 2 channel mode and the other preout for subwoofer and have control that way.Sounds complicated but its not..just letting you know there is more than one way to skin a cat :P
