Audio brands...

What speakers and subs sound the best in a third gen Camaro? Gonna be replacing the stock speakers with something better soon. I want to find something that's good quality and not crazy expensive. I heard an Audiobahn system in a 92 Camaro once, sounded good, had two 12's in the back. Thanks! What does everyone else have?

i think alpine type r`s sound really good just one type r is enough to shake your windows if its done right... jl audios soud decent but more pricey. ihave infinity 6x9s and infinity 4x6s and they dont distort at all when up loud it all depends on what your willing to spend

I don't think there are any "perfect" sub for a certain car. Its all up to the buyer what kind of sub they want and the look and sound the subs make or made for. Also a good sub is only as good as the box. Just buy whatever is in your budget alpine, JL, Audiobahn, Kicker, MTX, Digital Design all great companies. I hear nothing but crap on the forums about Sony. I would only put them in my winter beater just for something to bump too.

I've had good luck with Alpine H/Us and Infinity speakers. Not ridiculously expensive, yet sound good.

Well, you could go for Audiobahn & Kickers. But my bucks go for Kickers. Please do take note that most 3rd gens don't come standard with a speaker system capable of creating a truly high-quality sound.

Re: Audio brands...

stay away from autioban and kicker or any sloppy sounding brands are cars hold bass really well and sound bounces off the hatch. you want to get something thats dedicated more towards SQ

Re: Audio brands...

for speakers i would suggest infinity, i dont have them personally, my friend has them in his car and they get loud and stay clear, they are real nice, as for subs, i would suggest kicker, jl audio, or rockford fosgate's, however jl might be a little pricey..

Re: Audio brands...

Kicker Cvr's are good bang for buck. So is mach 5 audio. Cerwin Vega v-max series are good. Infinity speakers tend to have hardly any bass. Polks Db series are good for the money. Kicker speakers don't sound very good (tweeters too harsh). But amplifiers are good. If you want sq look into Elemental Designs, JBL has good subs. JBL and infinity are both under the same brand ( expect speakers to sound alike) - JBL subs are alright. If you have an amplifier for the speakers then get CDT. That is the ultimate bang for buck. Rockford fosgate subs... do not buy unless you get T1 or T2. Rockford P3's and under are overrated subs. But do know that it is the enclosure that makes the subs sound good. There are many brands out there people don't know about. Go onto realmofexcursion.com and read some stuff there are a ton a people with the same questions. Don't buy from bestbuy or CC, there are way better deals on the internet. If you have a price and an idea of what you want PM me and I will tell you what to get, and where to get it cheap.

Re: Audio brands...

stay away from audiobahn. They look cool but are complete crap. Anyone could make a subwoofer and it will sound fine but I have heard lots of stories where they catch fire, amps and subs.

I have some stuff for sale all brand new, you might be interested in.

Jbl 4 channel amp gto504 - $130 Shipped
Infinity 5.25'' 5020CS component speakers - $105 Shipped

I have 2 12" Kicker CVR's and couldn't be happier. Especially with my 1600 Watt Amp!

Re: Audio brands...

Also don't buy amps because they say 2000watts! or whaatever. Thats complete BS half the time. You want to look at RMS and efficiency. Stay away from BOLT, Audiobahn, Xplod, soundstorm, crunch, etc and also those cheasy bandpass premade boxes. I'm not hear to bash on what everyone already has, i'm just throwing out some alternatives.

Re: Audio brands...

Im not stupid... Sounds like you know it all dont you? I did my fair research and found an AMP that was both affordable and good quality. Not everyone has thousands for car audio. I have under $325 in my sub setup and it sounds great.

Re: Audio brands...

Saying "this speaker is great" is like looking at a picture of food and saying, "That taste great!".... Granted a $5 woofer vs a $100 woofer, I would lean towards the $100 one as better quality, but the point is, take a few CD's of your fav music and go listen to them @ stores, friends cars etc and LISTEN to the difference... Not only will you hear difference between different speakers, you will like different things than other people... Its about what sounds good to YOUR ear....

As for a good deck... what do you want out of it... are you gonna run your speakers off the deck or an amp? Plugging and Ipod into it? The features you want will determine the price...

The type of sub and speakers should also depends on what type of music you listen to. Quality is everything. Buy the best you can afford and build your system with quality product slowly. I run a single Image Dynamics IDQ 12" with dual voice coil and can make it sound great with jazz or pound so hard it's like getting a massage in my car.

Also have a look at the Pioneer Premier line.

I have rockford components and Bazooka subs and my setup is really nice and I have the subs turned way down. The subs are ELw10 10 inch SVC and I have about 600 watts rms going to each of them and they can get LOUD.

Re: Audio brands...

Quinny, that absolutely sucks what happened to your system.

I would be going head hunting if I came out and found my system missing.

As for my system, It's mostly the head unit. After I bought my car and was removing the panels to paint them, I noticed the speakers in the rear were Audiobahns and trust me the car thumps pretty good for no sub.

Not sure about the ones in the dash, but I don't think they're stock.

The head unit is a Jensen VM9512. My girlfriend got it for me as an XMAS present. Not a bad deal considering we found it in a pawnshop with the remote and medialink hub all in mint condition and got them to give it to us for $275.

At first I thought all the stuff it was packed with (especially the TFT and DVD player) would be overkill, but once installed I can't see myself going back to JUST a CD player anymore. As for overall features and quality, I can't think of any other head unit I would want on a budget right now.

Froogle has it priced in the $350 range, but I'm not sure what your budget is.
