I dont't know if anyone has attempted this before, but the CS-144 140 amp alternator for the 1995 cadillac deville 4900 is pretty simple to swap over into our cars. i had an extra one laying around, and i got creative one day and it hooked up into my 85 with a 305 without trouble
Re: More powah
I just did this on my 82 Corvette and it made a huge difference, I bought a rebuilt unit from eBay for around $69 shipped.
It replace the stock alternator in my vette and made a HUGE difference.
I'm going to remove it from my vette and install it on the 88 Trans Am I just bought. Mostly because I plan on putting a couple of amplifers in the car.
I purchased a serpentine adapter bracket on eBay so I can do the swap, cost me around $32 shipped and was brand new.

Re: More powah
yeah I just put a 140amp in myself. My car was acting funny, and turned out that the amp had died on me. I figured what the hell, why not put a 140 in so I dont have to deal with it later. Works fantastically. Lights never dim, etc.
Running an 840watt 4 ch amp for the 6x9s and 4x6s, and a 500watt rms for my 2 12s.

You know for like $230 you could get a brand new 220amp CS-130 with warranty and a overdrive pulley. I considered the CS140 but decided the CS130 was better for my needs and I could afford the high performance model with all the neat little tricks done to it.
