having more problems with the system....

i have noticed lately that for some reason my subs arent hitting as hard as they used to...i dont know if its either a.) the amp is going...its like 3 or 4 years old b.) the winter cold is effecting the subs or c.) doesnt hit as hard cuz of the windows being closed and causing extra resistance.

my system set up:
-Profile Californian amp 1000w
-2 Alpine Type R Subs (10")
-Kenwood Speakers (have 3 tweeters per speaker)
-Alpine CDA (i think 8557) Head Unit

ive noticed this after i changed the battery, it sounded like it wasnt hitting as hard, sounded sloppier but not like the subs were blown. i adjusted the amp level down cuz i thought 'maybe theres more power out of this new battery' then it was too quiet, but when i adjust it back up higher, it gets sloppy again. i cant quite figure this one out. ive been adjusting everything that i can...

adjustments:
*AMP*
-Gain (about 3/4)
-Bass Boost (about 1/4)
-Sub Sonic (dont know lol i dont think i touched it)

*HEAD UNIT*
-Bass Level (-4 (-7 to +7))
-Q (75)
-Freq. (100)
-Treble Level (+7 (-7 to +7)
-Treble Freq. (10)

Re: having more problems with the system....

The battery has no effect on your amps settings. Your gain is set in accordance to your radio. If your battery is dead it will not hit as hard just due to the lack of power. NO changes on the settings of the amp though. As for the weather. How cold are you talking. If its like 20 degrees or something then let your voice coils heat up for 5 mins or so on some bass songs on a low volume. Dont beat on your subs if the voice coils arent heated up. Here in new york it gets cold. Subs will sound sloppy in the winter. They wont hit as clean and hard. Its just something you have to get over. And last it could be your amp but thats hard to test inless you have another amp. Also try picking a different song. Different play rates will effect your sound. A CD will play louder 90% of the time over sat radio or ipod. It has to deal with the play rates and the signal-to-decible rating. And for the windows being up or down most ppl wont really notice a HUGE differnce in sound having it up or down. You will really notice on a db reader. We wont get into that though.

Re: having more problems with the system....

well i do actually have a decibel reader lol and ok...i wasnt totally sure about the whole battery thing and i couldnt remember if it was a winter thing or not...i feel like ive had this problem last year but i forgot lol. and yeah, the only reason i thought it could be the amp is cuz ive gotten a lot of looks for having a californian amp lol people have made fun of it a couple times before. i have played different rates of sound before, and lower sounds dont seem to hit as hard i think, or they hit really sloppily. thanks for the info...i was just concerned id have to spend money on this system again lol...cuz these speakers have no bass, thats why i got the subs....plus i like the bass lol
