That is very cool. Do you have a list of materials and step by step instructions on how you're doing this? If not, how much would you charge to make them? Bare would be fine.

Thanks for the compliment. To make them, and make them worth while would be to much. It's quite a bit of work. Not really to hard, all though it is somewhat trying. All I did was:

Rip out the kicks and pull the carpet off. Grabbed some cardboard and traced out what would be 5 1/4 components, then made sure they baffle would be as small as practical would allow. I then made the baffle out of 3/4 MDF and routed the sides with a round over bit. The 5 1/4 hole is cut out to flush mount the grill with some room on the sides for the vinyl to tuck in. I then made some standoffs with a dowel in order to hold the baffle off the kick panel. Getting the fiberglass to adhere to the plastic is a bit of a bastard. I made the mistake of cutting the shirt to short. I should have brought it around about 6'' on all sides and glued it more towards the middle of the backside of the kick panel. The resin reactivates the spray glue and loosens the shirt. Now I know what to do for the drivers kick anyway. To compensate for my mistake I covered the whole back with fiberglas sheet and wrapped it around the to the front side in order to lock everything onto the plastic kick panel. it seems to have worked out. Before that I resined the shirt by itself and let that dry. After that I wrapped 2 layers of fiberglass sheet, let that dry then body filled it. Sanding is a lot of fun. Anyway I'm now ready for vinyl.

Interesting. I've never worked with fiberglass or anything like that before. Very cool though and two thumbs up.

It's really not that bad. Messy as hell. It cost me about $70.00 in supplies, thats for a 1/4 sheet of MDF, 1/2 gallon of resin, 3 tubes of hardener, 3 packs of $1.00 brushes, sandpaper, body filler, 8 cubic feet of fiberglass, and plastic cups. Give it a shot. Try covering a block of wood to get the hang of it. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Took me about 10 hours to make it, I imagine I'll be quicker on the next one.

Re: My first attempt at Kick Panels

This is the final product, just put the vinyl on this afternoon. It's a bastard to do, in hind sight I would have spent more time finishing the bondo and coat it with ruberized rocker guard then a cover coat of tan paint. Anyway it came out pretty good, the drivers side is not quite as nice due to more complex angles making the damn vinyl a total goat show to wrap.

Dude, that its pretty sweet. Did you consider angling it towards yourself? Then again....might stick out more and be in the way. Anyway like to know how they sound.

Re: My first attempt at Kick Panels

Looks pretty good!

For future reference you could actually apply a texture over the finished surface and the then color them with sem color coat to match your interior if you didn't want to mess with vinyl.

Or use a omni stretch vinyl, it's really thing and can pull to stretch over the toughest angles. I use the white vinyl and then apply a color coat to match the interior.

Re: My first attempt at Kick Panels

Thanks for the Kudos. As far as the angle, I was trying to find the best of both worlds in trying to get good sound quality and not interfere with leg room. The drivers is on more of an angle due to the hood release. Not dure how they sound yet.
