i just bought a headunit off o friend and wiried it up in my car with the factory speakers but it still wont play not even static does anyone know the factory color codes for the stereo wiring in a 1991 Camaro

 

You need to elaborate a lil more. If you getting static from the speakers and it wont "play" then im assuming it turns on but u just have no sound. Is this from the radio, or cd/ipod? If you are getting static from speakers when ur in tuner mode then u obviously have ground and power and somewhere one of the speakers is at least hooked up(in the right spot or not, it doesnt matter). So i would guess you didnt hook up your attena right, which will cause static. Im only going off assumtions as you told us nothing but your gettin static and it wont play.

 

I mean there is no static at all, and when you play a cd no sound comes out even though the headunit is on and says its playing the cd. The headunit turns on and off with the car and holds time but thats all it does

 

ahhh...alright that means the speakers arnt hooked up at all. Could be you messed up the wiring or maybe speakers are unhooked from the connections(or bad connection). I would double check all your speaker wires
