Need some info about Factory CD Player

Im thinking about swapping out my factory tape player for a CD player like this one. The look of it is a perfect match for my interior (91 firebird) and I think it would look great. What I need to know is how stable these things are? My car rides like a log wagon and I dont want something that is going to skip all the time. The stock CD in my 02 Trans am never skips, but Im not sure about these older models, in fact Im not sure what kind of car this is even out of. Is it for a grand prix maybe? Its different that the Firebird CD player shown in my 91 owners manual. Are all these things plug and play pretty much? The picture of the rear has the same plug as mine, but I dont want to blow my speakers or short something out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That is a pontiac radio.Pulled the same exact one not too long ago from a 93 bonneville.I believe the time frame would be about 93-95 or 96.Should be plug and play in your 91 and you wont have to worry about blowing the speakers or shorting anything out. From my experience they dont really skip too much unless you hit a really bad bump
