Mounting Woes

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I have a Hifonics TXi 7508 amp I'm trying to mount but this is proving difficult for a long lasting solution. The amp is massive, 18" long, 9" wide and 2.5" thick. Now I have two options, spare tire or under box.

The spare tire mount would possibly be the easiest but this amp is a bit heavy and when paired with another amp (possibly same series) it might bend the conventional 'two-bolt in the wood' mount. Now being as my car never came with any spare tire essentials, I have to wonder what the "slit", about 7 inches, below the two bolts was intended for.

The amp fits perfect inside the well under the box but airflow is very limited. I don't know if I have the room to raise the box 1/2" to utilize a fan blowing air under the box. This spot would also make hiding the wiring that much more easy.

I'm at a bit of stand still as I'm not the biggest fan about drilling but if it must be done, so be it. Your opinions?

Re: Mounting Woes

Do you have pictures of the amp related to the size of the space available?

and im not exactly sure but if you ported the box out the bottom and had the amp down there wouldnt that provide a lot of airflow for it? provided of course that the air can escape through a gap in the box or somehthing. i just put a board on my wheelwell and mounted to that.

Re: Mounting Woes

I think the wheel well is a good place for the amp as long as its water tight. Mine tends to leak when it rains so be sure that doesn't happen to you. There are several mounting points within the wheel well that can be used. Also a few small computer fans couldn't hurt...
