How to wire this head unit?
ok so i have a sony xplode head unit and cant figure out how to wire it. i have the speakers rite, but something else is wrong. When i turn the car off it doesnt turn off by itself, and when i turn it on, it doesnt turn on by itself.
also when i turn my lights on, it shuts off, and when i turn them off, the head unit turns back on? anyone have pics of how this should be wired, it would be much appreciated!
i know its not a very good unit, but its just temp till i can afford a new better one :/

Re: How to wire this head unit?
We will need a lil bit more infor to help solve your issue.Such as..did you use an aftermarket wiring harness adapter for your car that has the exact same wire colors as the sony deck harness. If not ..then that means the were no factory original radio plugs in the car and someone has cut them off.there fore its very easy to mismatch your main wires..constant 12v,accessory,and ground.
the yellow wire on the sony radio should be connected to 12v constant..which in your case sounds liked you have it hooked up to the red wire on the sony harness...fix that wire first. secondly it sounds like you have either the dimmer wire connected to the ground (black) on the sony harness which it should be wired to the orange/white if available*note not all sonys have it therefore just tape it up*. next will be to wire up a good chassis ground to a good clean metal spot or bolt for now to be 100% sure of ground. third will be to find the accessory wire which turns the radio on/off with the key only,it will have 12v when you turn the key backwords...connect this to the red wire on the sony harness.
once you have that wll done the radio will function normally.i can look up the exact wire colors for your car if you give me the year and model if that will help you?
