4th gen audio in 3rd gen car

Hi guys,

I transplanted a GM Monsoon CD unit from a wrecked '00 T/A into my '86 T/A...the CD unit installed easily with only minor mods to the mounting brackets and an aftermarket adapter for the wireing harness...my problem is with the GM amplifier for the Monsoon system...the amp has the factory pigtail cut from the doner car but I have no way of knowing the wireing for the speakers, power, etc...I visited a number of Pontiac dealers to see if a wirering diagram is available but I struck out...anyone know of a wireing schematic for this audio system?...MTIA!!!

Re: 4th gen audio in 3rd gen car

Since its a monsoon CD player, I THINK the RPO codes were W55. W54 was casette.

Here are some schematics I got from AUTOZONE's website. They get them from alldata. There are lots of different schematics for the 4th gen radio systems. Lots of options. Here are the ones that list 2000 specifically, and see to have what you need.

Here's one for amplifier to speakers...but it has 2002 next to it. This is where it gets confusing. Log into autozone's website and "sign in"... Pick the 2000 TA, and go down into the DIY repair info section. You can get all the wiring diagrams, and pick what you need.

There are a bunch of em...I just grabbed a few that looked like they'd help. Make sure you confirm thats wha tyou need so you dont catch anything on fire haha.

No prob man. Just hope it helps ya out. Like I said, there were so many diagrams listed for the radio system...I just grabbed the ones that jumped out at me as being useful.

Too bad you couldnt just get the entire harness from the car. You might have been able to make it plug and play except for the speaker hook ups.

Good luck!
