Dash Speakers

I found some nice speakers at the bone yard. It was from a late 80s GTA. I took a shot for $10 and the Polks sound great!

So question now is will they fit in my 92 GTA. I've yet to mess with the dash. I'm going to work on the system at the same time with my LT1 TA spare head unit.

It should fit in the dash because I am pretty sure all of the third gens got the same size seakers in the front and in the back. I'm pretty sure the size of the front ones are 4x6 so yeah measure um out and if they are that size then I say you should have no worries. Hakunamata!

Re: Dash Speakers

I did seach, I did read about the 4x6 but I wasn't sure about location. I found a couple ponticas there, a GP GTP etc. I didn't think about pulling the radios. Just worried they may not work. The polks were in a Ttop GTA so they were open to the elements. I tested them and they're perfect...

I even found PERFECT outside window crapers.

Re: Dash Speakers

Nice find on th polks, I'm about to get rid of mine, they're not too great without an amp the really low bass sounds like somethings trying to claw its way out alien style lol but with an amp they're awesome especially for the price

Re: Dash Speakers

They are nice. I'm more of an Infinity or MB quart fan but for that kind of money, I can be a polk fan too! LOL. All 82-92 f-bodies take a 4X6 speaker in the dash location.

Re: Dash Speakers

We will have to get together on pricing and see what kind of deals we can work out between us. I cant get alpine anymore, but I bet you cant beat my prices on D.E.I. products, LOL!

Re: Dash Speakers

Not planning on adding an amp or aftermarket radio. To me aftermarket radios seem out of place. For looks I go OE, besides at my age I'd rather hear loud engine than a loud radio.

I just got to see what kind of hack job has been done...

Re: Dash Speakers

I thought about finding a real OE radio and hiding an aftermarket. Oh I'm sure its hacked. Supid though, I had a nice harness I took from that GTA but I left it in the eng bay. I doubt its there. Going to go to one of those pontiac GPs and cut the harness and hope to find another good 3rd gen harness.
