Tweeters Driven by Head Unit?

I have a set of door panels off a manual window.car but my car has power windows, so I have a hole in each door panel.

I was wondering if I would be able to drive the 4 main speakers using an amp but connect the tweeters directly to the powered L/R channels on the head unit.

if you've got the RCA outs to run the amp, yes you can do it. however, you will have some issues trying to play with the fade of the setup. since both the front speakers and the tweeters are technically the "front" channels to the deck, you will not be able to control their levels independent of each other. you will need to adjust the levels from the amp.

Re: Tweeters Driven by Head Unit?

Right now I have a Jensen VM9512HD head unit A bought off Ebay in mint condition for $98 shipped. These line of Jensen units are not the best in the world but they get the job done alright. I have a Kenwood KAC-749S amplifier I picked up in a pawn shop for $75. Right now I have upgraded the in dash speakers to Boston acoustics 746's and have them wired straight to the head unit with Monster XLN 16 gauge cable.

The back 6x9s are some high end set of audiobahns from a PO. What do you guys think? Are audibahn any good or should I save up $150 and swap the 6x9s out to BAs as well (Had a set of SR95's in mind)?

I still have to rewire the back speakers as they are hooked in with factory coat hanger wire.

So theoretically I should be able to run 4 RCA cables from the front and rear line outs on the HU to the amplifier, then from the amplifier have the XLN monster cable going directly to the speakers and the etweeters driven by the powered front L/R channels from the HU. As for tweeters, does anyone have a good suggestion?

As for powering the amplifier, as luck would have it the same PO used to have this car setup with subs and there is still a reminiscent fat monster power cable going from the battery tray to the trunk to this day.

Am I missing anything here? Currently, I do not plan on installing subwoofers so do I need anything else fancy with this setup such as capacitors? This is my first trip down car audio lane and I just want to make sure everything id done properly and at the right price.

Re: Tweeters Driven by Head Unit?

Was possibly looking at a set of these for tweeters.
