power problems to the deck

ok i have an aftermarket deck in my 1989 camaro. after hooking everything up i came with one problem. it would not turn on the radio unless the constant (yellow) and power (red) where stripped back and touching each other. this has been going on for a few months but i was to busy working on the engine to worry about it. now i have some time to go over it. i no that all the grounds for everything are good. i have tried tracing wires around but no luck or get lost in the cluster of wires under dash. it wouldnt be such a big deal except for the part where i have to re do the time and everything when i turn it on. also i have to untouch the constant and power wires to get it to turn off. thanks in advance for any help

Problem Is Touch & Go

The problem is both wires need 12 volts for the radio to operate, and only one has it.

Using a voltmeter or test light
(the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) find which wire has no power.

If it’s the
orange wire the problem is the ARC fuse, or associated wiring.

If it’s the
yellow wire the problem is the RADIO fuse, or associated wiring.

Re: Problem Is Touch & Go
