Monitor Install Question

How hard is it to install the sun visors with monitors built in. I have never installed them and was just curious before I bought a pair.

Re: Monitor Install Question

r u gonna watch a video while driving? Its cheaper to by a dvd head unit. Besides, the little hardplastic that is inside the hinge of the sunvisor will quickly go bad and you'll end up with a sunvisor that will constantly fall down on any bump in the road. I highly would not recommend visor monitors. They are too heavy.

I have a jaensen flip out too. I have my video push switch bypassed. You enter the setup mode. Then with the remote, push the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and then a secret screen will pop up. Just select "parking brake bypass" and there you go, no more push switch to activate video monitoring while driving.

most dvd players can just be grounded and it'll operate like as if the push switch was activated. But DVD stereo makers got smart. In my wifes Expedition, we installed a double-DIN DVD stereo (Pioneer). In this bad boy there was no way around a simple ground. We actually have to push the bypass switch, then push "ok" on the screen. If the ignition switch is turned on while the wire is grounded, the stereo will not allow us to view the video. There is another way to bypass the switch but I would need to install a relay and follow instructions that is displayed on youtube to be able to connect all the wires properly.

Re: Monitor Install Question

Double-DIN stereos wont fit. They are too big. Here is a link to the exact match for dvd stereos for our thirdgens ( http://www.crutchfield.com/g_168550/....html?tp=20220 ). If you want to further investigate, call Crutchfield at 1-800-219-3597.

Now if you've seen it done, then there must of been some sort of modification.
