I have no cassettes but my radio is an AM/FM/Cassette.I would like to put an AM/FM/CD in but have found none for a 1991 Camaro RS .What other years of GM and model would work with just having to plug it in....Any help would be appreciated....

 

You can go to a car stereo retailer and get a cd car stereo from them.You will need
to get an installation kit to be able to bolt it in your dash and you will also need a wireing harness so the new radio can be hooked up.

 

I want to keep it looking as OEM as possible.I have been told that a late 90s GM CD radio would just plug in with no adapters......Is that true??????

 

I don't know.Most people put aftermarket stereos in their cars.

 

Yes, it's true. Actually, some third-gens had CD player options.

 

Some people dont like the gaudy look of aftermarket radios, as all look like crap.

If you buy an aftermarket headunit that is the same color as the inside of your car (Mainly the plastics around it) then it actually looks really nice. Some people buy yellow ones and different colored ones and they just look wrong. Color makes it look fine. I have an all black one and the inside of my car is black and it looks really nice.

 

Here's another option for you; bring your existing radio to your local auto salvage yard. If bringing it isn't possible, bring a closeup photo with you of the rear of your radio. See what the salvage yard has for Delco units and if you find one you like, make sure the female ports will match. A yard in my city keeps all their radios on a shelf to allow customers to find close matches if they don't have the exact one in stock. To take it a step further, if you find a unit you like that is currently in one of the yard cars, when you remove it, keep the connectors installed and then you can splice your existing wires to it.
