speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
I have asked this before but didn't get a clear answer. Did the camaro ever come with stock speakers in the rear similar to the 4th gen? I wanna know factory options. I don't wanna fabricate something

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
some cars that had the optional well cover got speakers in there, but that is not an easy add on, since you need new plastics and have to weld on additional mounting brackets. i used 6 1/2" speakers in place of the 6x9s and while that did require making a new mounting plate, it was a very easy thing to do

So its not as easy as just changing plastics? I wish I could see a picture of this.
I would like to have 9 speakers total. Two dash, two in cargo area, two amp powered kick panel, and two amp powered 6x9 and a sub

you're honestly better off getting 1 or 2 *good* sets of speakers then trying to put a ton of them everywhere in the car. too many speakers ruins the balance and sound stage and making tuning miserable. you can do loud and musical without needing that many speakers in the car

Ok then what do you think about this, I already have infinity kappa 6x9 then what about kappa 4x6 and some kick panel speakers.? I like putting speakers in stock locations to keep them low profile

do up a good set of kick panel speakers (amplified) and forget about the dash ones. too small to really produce anything useful in the midbass to mid range. a good set of 6 1/2" in the kicks will make you much happier

The factory Bose rear speakers were in this panel I found in a thread here on TGO:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...bose-rear.html
And here is a 8" sub in the sail panel:

And a 10" sub with a 1" tweeter:

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
I've been tossing around the idea of doing 8" subs in the sails, but not sure if I feel up to the challenge of properly sealing up those areas. I'll probably just stick to with a single 12 in the lower well area and call it a day.

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
I once had a cheap(50 bucks for sub and amp) sealed 10 in the hatch area and it hit pretty hard. Ppl thought I had two 12s lol. But ever since that I want a sealed 10. Heard two 12s in a 4th gen but that was too much

Also what you could do is put a pair of 5 1/4" speakers in the dash if you dont want anything getting in the way of your feet. Thats what I did and I am quite happy with the setup.

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
I did a custom 8in woofer and was planing to do a sub woofer but talking with the pro he said its not enough space for a sub to breath and will over heat ad burn out so a 8 inch woofer would be better but he side it not much better than the 6x9 so a good 6x9 would be better its not worth the work.

Biggest problem with mounting a 10" in there is the mounting depth, theres lots of air volume for a properly matched woofer
The 10's that were mounted in the 90 were actualy set to play more as a mid woofer, the car had four sealed 15" sub's that played the low base
In my 92 (blue car) those are 8" HERTZ mid woofers in the sides, I use two ported 10" W7's in the rear for my low base
Twin 6'5" in each panal is another od ball we have done around here, dont think I got pics off hand, I'll take a look around, that car ran three JL W6's across the back for the lows
personaly I dont like oval speakers and will always covert to a round if I can, I just plain beleive they sound better, I have been called a pro before, but maybe I am just a guy flapping at the gums, either way we all, even pro's, have our own opinions, you get to decide what you want put there

I like my infinity kappa 6x9s plan on using infinity kappa componants in the front and a 10inch kappa sub with a kappa five 5channel amp.

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
Well Sojer, the biggest we have ever put in the dash was 5.25", just gotta be carefull also on the depth available up front too, because some F cars the venting gets in the way restricting speaker selection even more
I'd suggest a good set in the kick panals and call it a day for simpicity, in my 92 I run HERTZ Space 6.5" in the doors, but that took abit of custom work to make it look kinda stock

We've ran 5.25" coaxels in the stock Bose kick spots too, the one side actualy fits in pretty good, the other took alot of custom work that I personaly dont think was worth wile, but if one is hoping to keep the stock look. Sorry I dont have pics of the "bad" side, go figure, lol

Same car ran 6" JL Woofers in the back Bose location, not enuff base in my opinion but the owner was happy and thats what counts, I just wasnt impressed with the output, or lack there of

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
My 90 has stock size Alpine type S speakers all the way around with two 12's in the hatch driven by a 300W single channel and the sound is clear and the subs provide decent bass, good listening quality as far as i'm concerned.
my 88 is going to be pro-street and not have the weight of a sub box, currently has stock size Boston acoustics in the back and 5" Boston acoustics in the front and sounds decent

Re: speakers in the rear other than the 6x9s?
4×6 dash, 6×9 sail panels ( run off the deck)
6.5" in kick panels run off a 250 watt or higher amp,
2 10" subs in a bandpass box run off a 5000 or higher amp, stick with well known brand speakers, and you should be quite happy.
