Ideas of one 12 in the hatch area..

Ok ive seen some good descriptions but i just dont see a 12 fitting flat in the bottom area of the hatch, any opinions???
And ive had quite a few systems in my camaro...but what do you all think sounds better? The sub pointed to the bottom or side of hatch or straight at the window??
Im going to make a nice box and amp rack but im not sure about where i want it yet. Its for one 12 inch sub and the Cadence amp in the pic. below.
I put some pics. of the newer stuff ive got in the car right now. Dont laugh at the box! I know its Not the right size!!!!! I made it for my daily driver, buick lesabre..

I've got a single 12" in the well that does just fine. I had an installer friend of mine build a box from MDF and fiberglass loosely based on the plans in the stickies. Here's the link to my thread from the build.

Re: Ideas of one 12 in the hatch area..

I had a single 12 box built for mine and decided to nix it for a dual 10w1's in a baffle board that's mounted to the shelves in the well, hits plenty hard and took me about 20 mins to measure, cut and another 15 to carpet and secure it.

Quick easy bass with MUCH less of a hassle

Thats a nice install. Any idea what some of the dimentions are? Exspecially the box volume. That memphis is basically the big brother of my speaker(powerbass). I need to figure dimentions to get 1.5 Ft3 of gross internal volume (I have intentions of a sealed box). Thanks though for the link, i looked arround on the thirggen pages but only could find boxes for 2 subs.
Great set up though for sure!!!

1.5 seems a bit large for a sealed box, also setup is a custom job and normally installers aren't quick to reveal their secrets, you can use the pics for basic ideas its pretty cut and dry from there

IIRC, its internal volume is 1.5cf as per the box specifications on the Memphis site for their 12" MOJO. I have some dead space on the passenger side of the well since woofer placement and box volume did't reach all the way over (about 9 inches or so). I have crossover mounted in that space

This powerbass is made by memphis too. It calls for 1.5 gross cuFT. So thats the plans. The picture I attached in the first message is the box i built for it in a trunk. Its like 1.46ft3 so its close enough and it sounds great. I put bracing in it too just to keep the flex down since some of the sides are about 19 inches.
Im think im going to make the same set up as you guys did when it comes to the single 12 inch sub. It looks clean and neat. Thanks for the info!

Single 12" fits in the bottom no problem. Mine is around 1.1 ft^3 IIRC.

Re: Ideas of one 12 in the hatch area..

I went out and made some measurments last night.(took me over an hour to get it right) I got a good idea of the cuts for a box thats 1.26ft3 so that should be fine, If i feel its still too small ill just put some polyfill in it to make it (seem) larger to the sub. Once i start making the cuts ill put pics on here. Its gonna take me some time though. Sometimes i work too much, but it pays for the goodies in the camaro. Thanks for the pics everyone!!

Re: Ideas of one 12 in the hatch area..

Had the Logo custom embroiderer by a local auto upholster on a piece of rug. It was necessary to cover the seam between the box and the original floor, which looked trashy. It was just cut to fit the ares and the speakers and lays down.

Re: Ideas of one 12 in the hatch area..

Started making some cuts for a box and amp rack here are a few pics.. hope i have time this week to finish it. The idea of the set up is to have the amp rack look like a stripe right down the center of the box and it will be the same hight as the box from the rear of the box to the passenger seats.
