Best method to crossover speakers...?

Best method to crossover speakers...?
Which would produce better results, using a set of separates:
1. Hook them up in a normal fashion and use the included crossover?
2. Hook the "woofers" to two channels on teh amp, full range, and then hook the tweeters to two other channels and use the "hi pass" filter and dial them in?

your best bet would be to stick with the stock ones supplied with the components. you'd need a bandpass for the woofers (since you don't want sub frequencies going to a 6") and the highpass for the tweeters would probably not be steep enough. and depending on the components, there may also be filters to smooth out peaks in frequencies, phase alignment, or even some sort of tweeter protection against being over powered.
if you had a deck with decent processing (think pioneer premier 880) or an external crossover, i'd go that way if you're looking to run an active setup.
