Wired FM Modulator
I have the factory tape deck in my 91 z28 right now. I don't want to swap the head unit to an after market and finding the cd player is virtually impossible. I want to keep the stock look all the way around. I'd like to just use my Iphone in the car through a wired (not wireless) FM modulator. I currently use a wireless and it sucks. Way too much interference. Has anybody used one of these/installed one? Willing to take any suggestions and/advise. Thank you.

Re: Wired FM Modulator
There are a few industrious souls who modify stock HU's with a mini stereo input jack to directly feed an I-pod into the amplifier. It should be able to process a signal from most devices. When you plug in the appropriate plug it disconnects the amplifier from the tape unit and you have a direct feed to the HU amplifier with full functions. Some posts regarding this mod are on this site, and there is one fellow advertizes on E-bay. I have not seen one in person, however the concept sounds good. I am in the same position as you. I want to play music from other sources, but have a car that lives for the shows in the stock class. My car has the Pontiac Performance Sound option, and I don't want to modify it from original. Currently I am using a Pioneer 12 disc remote mounted CD player that plays through its own FM modulator that plugs into the antenna and then the HU. It plays better quailty than the wireless FM modulators, but still does not have the quality of a direct imput. Charles

I've been toying with the idea of doing of adding the plug myself based on varoius "diy" threads here at ThirdGen, but after seeing this info on the RediRad, I think I wil spare myself the headaches. This looks very easy to install, and it is completely hidden, except for the plub end.

Hot Rod magazine's power tour. About 2500 car guys/gals get together and hit 7 cities in 7 days. Been around since about 1992 or so. Tons of fun. Google it.
The owner of redi rad is Matt. He is a cool guy, a real car guy himself. Tell him Damon (aka Hitman) sent you.
