All speakers went silent after...

...I put in a set of rear speakers. The car has a Kenwood CD Am/Fm unit, MPV7019, and stock speakers. I planned on replacing the rear ones soon with some sort of Pioneer 6x9.
I had a set of used older 6x9's laying around the garage that I had never used, an off brand called "Roadmaster", RS900. Figured I'd throw them in real quick to see if they were any good and who knows, maybe I'd like them.
After about 30 seconds, both front and rears went silent at the same time. No amount of fiddling with fader or balance makes a difference. I had no problems with the factory ones before this. The speaker wiring is correct.
Any thoughts on this? I don't like this Kenwood unit; if it simply won't drive the speakers I'll be happy to get rid of it. But I'm curious--what's the deal here? Car audio isn't my strong point, or priority, but I do like my tunes.

make sure you did not ground out a speaker wire. then try pulling the roadmasters out.

Good call, Darion--the wires were ok, but one speaker was internally grounded or shorted. I never thought to check that. Factory ones are back in for now.

Thanks!

i recently ha the problem too. I just put in Alpines. Make sure the wires are taped up. mine were touching the metal frame of the speaker which resulted in the sound no working at all.
