Vert Sub Idea
So I got a 10" sub and amp in the trunk that is staying, but I have my entire interior gutted right now and was just thinking of adding in two 5" subs and small amp in the side panels in the back. If i did it I would have to eliminate the rear seat belts and kind of mount them low where the seat belt came out of the panel.
Now if I do that the subs will kinda be half covered by the rear seat. Does that matter? How should I go about wiring in for a 2nd amp? Am I missing something? Surely im not the first person to think of this... but i did a search and cant find anything on this topic...
love to hear some input

Re: Vert Sub Idea
If you were just using the 5 inch subs for bass only then it shouldn't be a problem, because it is a lower frequency. If you were to use these as a mid-bass setup, or a full range setup, then it wouldn't sound right due to higher frequency.
The next problem would be the seatbelts or adding grills to the subs to keep from damaging the cones.
If you decide to do this, post some pics. It sounds interesting
As for the amp, run separate power wires. Depending on it headlining/amp, you might have a pass through to run both.

i would just use it for low bass like the rear subwoofer. i can add a grill so the cone dont hit the seat. I guess id have to build some tiny box to fit it in and mount that behind the panel or you think i have just hand them open air with no box????
what do you mean by "Depending on it headlining/amp, you might have a pass through to run both"

I'm sorry, autocorrect got me. Head unit, not headlining. The head unit (radio) may have more than one set of pre-amp outputs to allow you to run multiple amps.
The pass through on an amplifier is like in the attached picture. The inputs on the left side are from your head unit, and the outputs on the right side can go to another amplifer, called a "pass-through".
And yes, if the 5 inch subwoofers are in a box, or sealed cabin, then they will sound much better.
