LED lights question
LED lights question
Quick easy question.
I just got my sub and a dual amp (one for speakers, one for sub) installed into my trunk.
I was checking out online ways to install LED lights to your system so that they will pulsate to the music. EVERY suggestion I came across had them wire the lights directly into the subwoofers speaker cable that is connected to the amp. I am not an electrician but this just smells like bad news.
So, my question is;
1. Am I retarded or is this going to cause a fire, or would it actually be ok because the LEDs only require 12v?
2. If not, is their a more proper way to install the lights into my trunk? Could i wire it to a distributer or something?

one ebay theres ones that you just add power to and put next to the speaker such as this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Voice-Music-Control-LED-Strip-Light-Lamp-Flasher-Flash-Strobe-Controller-/280955362782?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416a3e9dde&vxp=mtr

I got some that plug into your cigarette lighter and they just pick up on the sound. The only problem with these is if your talking loud or laughing then it picks up on that too

It would still be 12v power so they shouldn't blowup or anything. If they do, a roll of LEDS hardly cost anything... But i would suggest getting a kit from www.ledunderbody.com they wont blow your bank and they run off your fuse box and you get all kinds of different modes, along with a music setting that goes along with what you're playing. I have a 4 piece set and im more than happy with them

Getting ready to do one of these in a friends Subaru 2.5 RS and they are simple. For someone who is iffy about doing hardcore wiring( it is scary when you first start!) these would be an easy install. It's pretty much plug and play and will work with any device using a regular headphone jack.
