stereo installation problem!!HELP!!

so my problem is that when i got the car about three weeks ago the guy i got it from wanted to keep his stereo so he reached in and pulled it out just like that. disconnected the harness and walked away. so obviously he didnt have it installed correctly. on top of that i noticed the hvac controls had fallen down into the console like they were no longer mounted. so after removing the stock trim around this area and literally grabbing the din and a half installation trim he used that wasnt even mounted and pulling it out i noticed he did not use the support bracket or the tin sleeve or anything. now needless to say i will need a new install kit. this is the one i found i think it will work well.

my question is does this metal bracket that the hvac controls are mounted to mount by the same screws that mount the install kit? i know this may be hard to understand im gunna try and post some pics. and any info on the hardware would be greatly apreciated this guy used any nut and bolt he could find. i found a kit that had some hardware...

i think most of the hardware should be these torx guys but idk. i wish i had another car that had stock stereo to work off of. or some pics of how its mounted and the hardware. any advice is apreciated thanks guys.

i dont have a camaro so i dont know exactly what your looks like but, normally you use what ever screws you have because the trim kits dont come with them. if you are trying to put a aftermarket single din radio, just buy it from crutchfield or sonic electronics and they will ship you the wire and trim adapters and instructions. the trim plate will cover what ever screws you have any way. when i was at the yard buying stuff for my firebird i grabbed some screws and such, they didnt charge anything significant for them and all seemed the same between interior screws and radio/console screws

Your ac controls should mount with 7mm hex head screws. Your plastic ac control/radio bezel trim piece uses torx screws like the shifter plate and the screws in your link. As stated by jwfirebird junkyards are great for parts and also for learning how to tear these things apart. A 7mm nut driver is a must have along with a set of torx drivers.

Re: stereo installation problem!!HELP!!

ok thanks for the help guys....but i still have one question un aswered....so my ac controls are mounted to a metal bracket but the bracket is not mounted to the console yet. now by looking at it it looks like the screws that hold it in are the screws that go through the install kit for the single din and through the little clips in the console (there are four of them) then go through the metal bracket lastly to hold the ac controls in place? does that sound right to you guys? cause i dont see any other way to mount these ac controls.
