Speaker buzz is driving me INSANE!! HELP!
Speaker buzz is driving me INSANE!! HELP!
OK, here's the deal. A few months ago I had my ERS system and all four speakers replaced with a Pioneer system at Circuit City (Big mistake) I decided I didn't want to deal with the adapter kit and asked them to install the new head unit for me. As part of the deal, they said they'd install the speakers for free. I thought "Groovy"
Immediatly after I got it, I noticed the rear passenger 6x9 was buzzing like made every time the base hit. I removed the panel. The speaker was fine but a screw was missing. grrrr... Anyway, I replaced the screw and tightened all four screws. Still buzzing, especially at lower frequencies. I removed the plastic vent piece behind the door but couldn't find the cause. I have no idea where to look next.
Anybody have this problem? The speakers hit pretty hard but not THAT hard, and the buzzing is very annoying, especially on the outside. Thanks for the help.

Without hearing it, I can't really determine if it's the speaker or something around it. Finding this out will help you considerably. If it's the driver itself, it's possible that it's either blown, or the speaker wire or tinsel leads are coming into contact with the cone when it moves. If it's something vibrating or rattling near the speaker, remove it or douse it with undercoating.

Check to see if there are any 12v+ wires near the speaker wire for the speaker. That will sometimes cause a speaker to buzz if there is not enough shielding on the speaker wire.
