what you think of this item??
Alright another opinion thread! Woohoo!
Anyway, sarcasm over. I need to get some bass in my car. MY current setup has absolutly no bass, none, zero. Tried messing with the radio, doesnt help. checked speakers and all the polarities are good.
So, I came this little enclosed 8" sub. I kinda like it. It would fit perfectly perched on top of the well held down by strips of Velcro. I was also thinking that the remote thingy could be spliced into the factory switch somehow. What do you think of it? I just want some nice bass, not that blast the neighbor three houses down stuff. Just looking for opinions.

Re: what you think of this item??
The price scares me....
But I would still have to hear it before deciding... Our cars are notoriously known for making loud / easy bass due to the horn effect of the rear hatch window..
I've heard some 6.5 inch speakers that made amazing bass, I could not believe they were 6.5 inch woofers... but they cost more than that Lanzar 8.... Try it if you can send it back if you're not happy with it... might get better results with it further towards the back instead of the hump....
Oh, just saw you have a Notchback... then it would probably sound the same where you wanted it or further back...

I might get it and try it out. I am just hoping I can integrate the factory sub control **** into the remote that comes with it.

8's don't put out much, and with it being so far back in the car. I have a feeling you wouldn't hear much. Plus it's a shallow mount 8, and I've had bad luck with Shallow Mount subs. They don't have much XMAX so you end up turning it up more to try and get a little more out of it. then boom it's toast and you have to buy another.
Plus the one you linked to is Lanzar, not the best company out there.
I would pass on them, but it's only 130 so if you do end up getting them you're not out that much.

They also make a 1400w 10. might give the little extra for that.

Re: what you think of this item??
I would get a real 8" sub and a small amp if you want to save space, ill agree with cdoyle, lanzar is a very low end company, I didn't even think they were producing stuff at this point. I built a very small down firing box for the bottom of the well that housed 2 8" jl w3's and it was pretty damn amazing for being two 8"s in a small sealed box, cartoys (used to work for them) also has their own line called Quinn, they made an 8 that is identical to the version 1 of jl's 8w3, another good option. You could also make a box to sit in the spare tire well or behind the lockbox if you're not looking for incredible bass, keep it low to avoid shaking panels and such. Kenwood also has a good 8" sub, generally I have always steered clear of these things, they never really took off for a reason lol same like bazooka tubes, some people sweat by them but the general public doesn't jump at the opportunity to have one

for like 50$ more you could build something that will not only sound 100 times better but also last you the life of your car.
I don't get why people are attracted to this kind of stuff. Just because they make it, doesn't mean that it "works"
But I guess if you've never heard anything better, you'd think the world of it!

All the boxes I have seen take up the entire well. I dont want that. I don't have the resources to make some fancy box that gets tucked away somewhere. I have to use what is available to purchase.

I understand about not having the tools to make a custom box. But there are literally at least 50 other better options out there.

mixed with a Fosgate P2D4-8
Yeah your twice the reccomended sealed enclosure air space but if you use a 2" hole saw and put a 2"x8" round PVC port at the bottom, your going to be a lot better off.
Finding an amp pretty much comes down to how long you want it to last vs how much you have to spend.
This also fitting your criteria about not taking up your whole trunk well.
All of that is easily attainable for close to what you'd pay for that contraption you posted up top.

Don't forget about buying used too, lots of quality equipment for much cheaper.
People like to upgrade, and just want their older stuff gone.
Also don't believe that 1400W marketing lies either, I bet they have maybe a 400Watt RMS rating. I don't get how companies can still get away with this stuff.

Re: what you think of this item??
Fiberglass costs 35$ for a gallon if resin, 98 cents for a cup, mixing sticks usually free and matting costs about 10$ for 8 sw ft....oh and you need a couple paint brushes. Don't get me wrong man its your car but that thing is not a solution. You could also do a baffle board, which is even cheaper and easier than a glass box. Seriously I made one for a friend in 30 mins start to finish. And it doesn't take up the entire well.
