I believe that Metra may have premade ABS plastic plates. http://www.metraonline.com

If not, it's very easy to make your own out of 1/2" MDF. Just trace the outline of your current 6x9 onto the wood, cut a hole in it the size of your 6.5" and then cut out the 6x9 shape that you traced. Tada! Instant adapter plate If 1/2" is too big for your speakers to clear the grill, then go to 3/8". I wouldn't go any thinner than that however.

The plate is a total no-brainer to make. Trace your 6x9 onto a piece of wood and cut it out, then cut the holes for the speakers.

You could also use some heavy gauge steel (10 ga. maybe?) and spray it down with RoadKill, or something like that.
