hi, can i have a seperate battery for my stereo system? have 2 batterries, one for the car itself, then another with the stereo running off the positive and the negative a ground. is that possible, or does it need to be connected to the alternator.

this is probably the stupidest question on this board, o well.

Yes, you can, but you'll have to be constantly rechaging it. Plus, many of the new amps are suposedly optimized for 14.4v, so running just off a battery will be 12.6v at best.
