Re: 91 transam conversion to single din help

those are the coolest looking ones, but if you dont want to spend that there are cheaper single din to 1.5 din mounts on ebay and that. i dont like those because they stick out quite a bit. i just took some flat aluminum and cut it to fit the center pod like the plastic trim plate and now my HU sits flush. my clarion unit just fits(depth wise before hitting the tunnel) this way so your results may vary depending on the hu used. i aslo had to cut out the plastic behind there

ya & some guys had to cut the ducts that go to the vents on the console to get there humount to fit not shure why some fit with out doing that & some dont i had to shave my trim plate down a bit to get it back on after the install but like jw said ebay you could get just a basic plate cheap

Re: 91 transam conversion to single din help

ya there are two small ducts off the main duct they are about 1" that run to the vents on each side of the lower console there useless as far as heat or ac so if you need to cut them its no big loss most guys just use "aluminum" duct tape to rap them up so there sealed off you can get that at aco-home depot or any major hardware store dont use regular tape it gets hot falls apart then you have the ducts blowing right on your head unit
