Noise filter questions.

I had to install noise filters in my stereo system to get rid of ignition noise. I have an MSD 6A ignition box and I think that's where all the noise is coming from. Do noise filter's do any harm to the system, like cut power or weaken the signals. I know it's only a band-aid cure but nothing else worked. Thanks!

What kind of amp(s) and processors do you have? I know guys with the MSD that don't have noise problems, so I'm just trying to discern where it may be entering your signal path. Ground loop isolators should help considerably, but if at all possible, try to mount the ground loop isolator somewhere away from the chassis.

I've generally found noise filters to be useless. The MSD is suppling more juice to you spark plugs, so your spark plug wires may not be up to the task. Buy a new set with RFI suppression and see if the noise goes away.

I've got MSD 8.5 wires so I'm pretty sure they are ok. I know the MSD box did induce noise so I have a 20 amp noise filter on the power wires to the MSD box and that took care of that. Also I recently added a Kenwood 202 electronic X-over and that seems to be where the new noise is coming from. I bought it used for $40.00 and it works fine but did add a small amount of RFI when the car is running. I also have an MSD blaster coil mounted to the fire wall with a coil strap, could this also be adding noise? Thanks!
