How can you find out how loud you are DB?, and how about SPL? Can you just go to any sound shop and have them measure it?

There are a bunch of factors involved with getting an SPL reading, so I usually suggest that you enter a sanctioned competition that uses IASCA-style microphone placement on the passenger side of the dash, and with the windows up. I've seen single 12" subs hit 145+dB in local competitions that can only hit low 130s in IASCA style competition just because of microphone placement.

Last time (only time) I measured my system, I hit 141.1dB before I popped my breaker. I've got 2 12" Oz Audio 300L subs powered by a Kicker ZR600 amp. I could get at least 5 more dB out of it if I tweaked it, but then it would be on the ragged edge of blowing stuff, and I'm only into it for the sound quality anyway. I've got a pair of 10" Rockfords, and I may build a box and try to push those into the 140s.

A friend of mine has a truck with 8 12" Atomic's running off two Memphis HC-100 amps. He hit 161 one time. He has only done it once that I know of. I am not sure what I am hitting with my my two 10" Atomics.

I was hitting 138.9Db with my old system of 2 RFP 1410 (10" punch) off a puch 100. It wasnt bad but the subs had a prblem with the spiders so I traded them for 2 xlc 12" and I will be running them off a 500a2. So i am waiting til next summer to install them in a custom box. Hopefully I can pull over 140Db
